HTML or Bust!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a few years now, I have explored both Neocities and the greater indie web scene. I have a few websites that I frequent to, such as toastytech.com and scarlettscafe.lenowo.org, and I love the personal touch that these websites have so much that I wanted to learn how to build my own. And after getting some books and using online resources about how to use HTML, I was able to create this site that you are reading from right now.

Now, as you may have noticed, this website is really scarce on details and images that many other Neocities websites have. Honestly, I did this for a few reasons. One is because I feel like the modern internet is so animated and crowded that I wanted to make a place that was way more laid back and relaxed. I really want a website that I would be able to view either at home or in public, and get the same experience in both situations. And while I would like to add images later, I think that will be the extent of it.

The look of the website was also very inspired by the Welcome to Netscape web page from 1994. From the background color used, to the layout of the website, hell even the name Netscape inspired the name for this website. I love that simple era of the internet and loved the layout that Netscape used that I emulated it as best as possible. I did also want to see, if by making a site as bare bones as possible, that it would be able to be viewed on simple devices. And while computers like my 2015 pink HP Stream laptop running Linux can view it no problem, my PS3 and 3DS sadly can not load it from their respective browsers. I think for that, I would have to find a different hosting platform or create my own server. I will not do that anytime soon though, as I think I want to focus more on having the site operational and making blogs and other posts first and foremost.

As for the future of the website, I plan on sharing a few things on here. One will be the blog, as it is a great way for me to practice my writing and it would be a nice way to get my ideas out instead of making a video for YouTube or Tik Tok. I do make and will continue to make things for those platforms too, but it takes longer as I have to account for the audio/visual elements. I also want to share my photography and digital drawings I have made this past year. I love seeing that when I visit other websites, so I think it would be fitting for me to share that too. And while I do not think this will ever become big enough for others to take it seriously, I also like the idea of maybe having guest writers make their own entries on here. I do like some of the ideas that the people around me have talk about, so maybe asking them to write something for me would be fun.

I do hope that I can do these things and more as I grow this website into something where people visit and check it out regularly, wherever they may be. I think most importantly, I will do this because I want to share my ideas and say things that I care about. I feel like the internet has gotten so fake and bland as more people are focused on making money. But the web is not about making money, it is about sharing ideas and having conversations with people from all over the world. And with Zenscape, I intend to do that to the best of my abilities.
